WeSNIP NEWS Wednesday, November 4, 2009~ Life is a challenge, meet it ~ Mother Theresa The staff and volunteers of WeSNIP are certainly learning to face challenges because each week seems to bring something new necessitating innovation and change. November 4, 5, and 6 were definitely a new challenge. The Spay Station was scheduled to be at the Humane Society of Skagit Valley outside of Burlington. Unfortunately, the Station had a mechanical problem which necessitated repair at Pioneer Ford in Lynden. After the decision was made to transport the animals all three days, the staff and volunteers set the plan in motion. Cindy and Zara arrived early for registration and to give instructions to the families. The Humane Society kindly offered their lobby so everybody kept warm in the dark, cold morning.
Terri also helped with registration. The whole process involved extra care and planning and a lot of traveling time.
Kat arrived early – she and Zara gave affection to the sweet kitties in the lobby that are available for adoption.
Benji, the Dachshund/Spaniel mix, was the first dog to arrive. He checked out all the kitties.
A sweet dog waited in the car and was given a hug goodbye.
Cindy, Kat, Terri, and Zara went over last minute details and the first big dog was boarded into a crate.
Small dogs were readied for boarding into the transport vans and cars.
The trip was made up to Lynden
Everybody arrived safe and sound to the back parking lot at the Pioneer Ford facility in Lynden on the Guide Meridian.
Patricia greeted everyone and the boarding began.
Kat, Zara, Terri, and Kathryn moved the big dogs from the transport van to the Spay Station.
Some things take brute strength and group effort to get done.
Terri transported the kitties. She and Zara unloaded them from her car.
Dr. Karen gave a big smile when she arrived.
WeSNIP Canine Mascots were out in force. Sunny howled his approval. Thoreau was more restrained in his judgment as Ben arrived with Jen.
After all the surgeries were performed, all animals were transported back to the Humane Society facility in Burlington.
Patricia arrived with a van full of cats while Kat gave post surgical instructions.
Kat and Zara began releasing the dogs.
As the dogs continued to go home, Patricia started releasing the kitties.
A mom and her sweet daughter waited for their cute puppy.
MoHawk, aka Mo, was taken out of his crate and rejoined with his family.
Kat also released their kitty to the cute girl and her mom.
The final dog was discharged while Zara and Patricia share a laugh.
At the end of the day, Kat and Bessie share a hug.
Many thanks go to the volunteers who registered and transported animals. Thanks also to Pioneer Ford for providing parking space so that the surgery schedule could continue as planned for all three days.
