Fairhaven has a European atmosphere with courtyards, outdoor cafes, art galleries, local artists, quaint specialty shops and restaurants for shopping, dining, & exploring. http://www.nwculture.com/NWC/CityDistricts/Bellingham/Fairhaven/1HP/1FS/1FS.html Chris, Bunny and David opened registration. Families waited in the dark with their kitties and dogs. Bunny helped register Harley, the handsome 9 month-old Golden Retriever. Harley’s Dad works at the Food Pavillion and has seen the Spay Station in their parking lot.
Lady, another gorgeous Golden Retriever, waited with her Mom. She is 5 months old and her family found her listed on Craig’s List. They brought kitties to the Spay Station last year. Bruno, the year-old boxer, waited patiently in his car. He was a Christmas gift and his family heard about the Spay Station from friends.
Oscar (Meyer Weiner Jones) waited in the car with his Mom. He is a 7 month-old Dachshund whose Mom heard about the Spay Station at Banfield Vet. She also saw a flyer for the Station at Yorky’s in Fairhaven . Singe waited in the car with her Dad. She has the cute name, Singe, because she was found abandoned behind their Bar-B-Que. Her family heard about the Spay Station on Craig’s List. Butters, the 5 month-old kitty waited with his Mom. His Mom said he’s a BIG boy because he LOVES to eat. They got him from a farm in Lynden and his family heard about the Spay Station from a friend. Kat arrived, ready to start the day.
Bunny and Kat reviewed the schedule. The big dogs, Harley, Lady& Bruno, got acquainted waiting to board.
Oscar eyed Lady from a distance while Kat went over final instructions with Harley’s Dad.
Bruno balked a bit at boarding. Ashley, Dr. Karen’s niece, waited for the dogs at the Station door.
Chris got a hand smooch from Oscar before he was tenderly handed over to Ashley.
11 year-old Cameron waited in line with Shadow, his 5 month-old kitty. A Mom helped Kat load a heavy kitty
David took pictures while 2 kitties waited in line. Bunny and Chris helped ready the kitties to board. Kat confired with Bunny and Chris while David continued taking photos.
Katie arrived with her kitty, Jemima. She cuddled her before relinquishing her to Kat. Laina handed an adorable kitten to Chris. a Bunny and Chris registered the last kitty. He didn’t look too amused with everything.
At the end of the day, Laina’s husband surprised the staff with a huge box of donuts, while Dr. Karen and Bunny looked on. The donuts didn’t last long.
Dr. Karen smiled at the end of the day, and then had a “sidewalk meeting” with Patricia.
Kat gave discharge instructions to Lady’s Mom while Lady looked on.
Dr. Karen’s dog, Benny, was readied to get off the Station and then waited in his car. He had minor surgery. WHS Animal Rescue Officer Katie arrived to collect Jemima, who waited in her stylish E-collar. Jen prepared a treat for 2 of the canine mascots - Thoreau and Sunny – they obviously really enjoyed it.
Many thanks to the Food Pavilion for again hosting the Spay Station from a dark morning through a warm, sunny autumn day.
