“Music On The Green” at Nugent’s CornerAly set up an information table as local musicians entertained.
Patricia had an open house in the Spay Station in the IGA parking lot.
The fastest growing area in Whatcom County, Birch Bay’s claim to fame is a large tide flat of sand several square miles in size that bares itself at low tide, and as the water creeps back in over the hot sand it warms to bath water temperatures in the summer. The Spay Station was back in Birch Bay for the first time since the WeSNIP first birthday. Patricia waited for the staff to prepare the station.
Max, the 4½ year old Yorkie, waited patiently in his car. His Mom heard about the Spay Station from a family member who had their cat spayed. Several kitties were transported for their families.
It was “grey kitty day” at the Spay Station. Grace, the 2 year old tabby, came to her family free at a feed store. She was the last of a litter of kittens. Lula, the 3 month-old sweet girl, is a farm kitty. Her Mom saw her being chased by a dog while she was haying. She saw a flyer for the Spay Station at the Elenbas feed store in Lynden.
Flossie waited patiently. Tucotti (named after a motorcycle), the 16 week-old orange tabby, was found on the Lummi reservation. His family got information about the Spay Station on Craig’s List.
The Spay Station canine mascots gathered – Oz, Sunny, Thoreau, and Bessie.
Kat arrived, smiling and ready for the day. Joy transported Wolfie (aka Bam Bam) for a friend. What a happy grin!!!
Roo, named after the Winnie the Pooh character, waited with his Dad. His mom took him home from a baby shower where puppy Roo and his siblings were brought in a basket. Is there any wonder that all the puppies went to new homes that day?
At boarding time, Roo was handed off to Kat.
Everybody got ready for boarding including Max who waited patiently in his Mom’s arms.
One family cut their camping trip short to bring their kitty to the Spay Station. The kids were still sleepy as they waited with their Mom and kitty.
Kitties arrived in traps, carriers, and pillow cases.
Starra helped with registration. Patricia, Cindy, and Starra reviewed the day’s schedule.
Cindy kept Sophie while her Dad completed the registration forms. Her Dad gave her a big hug. Sophie is an 8 month-old Shepherd/Husky mix. Her Dad saw the Spay Station at Toad’s last month.
Sophiei> was curious about the Spay Station and then eagerly climbed the steps.
At the end of the day, Karen relaxed with Bessie while Kat gave instructions to all the families.
Two girls waited for their Grandmother’s kitty. Kat gave individual instructions while the girls greeted the kitty.
Younger brother also greeted the kitty – then the family took her home.
Sophie and all the kitties went home.
Many thanks to our early morning volunteers and IGA & Toad’s for hosting the Spay Station.
