WeSNIP NEWS April 19, 2011
The overwhelming consensus is that the garage sale was a HUGE success. Over $7,000 was raised for WeSNIP – amazing. Kudos go to all the hardworking volunteers who put it together, especially the small core who had the vision and worked tirelessly for the success. Thanks also go to all who donated their treasures – and, we can’t forget a big thank you to all who bought items, keeping the Spay Station on the road. The Spay Station recently visited Mt. Vernon this week. The staff and volunteers focused on spaying and neutering Pit Bulls/mixes – a very misunderstood breed. The following sweeties had their surgeries there:
Rufus was the runt of his litter. He is now 2 years old. He was raised with his sister until his person moved into an apartment and couldn’t keep them. At 6 months, he was given to his new owner.
Duke is a handsome brindle boy. He’s about 7 months old and was transported by Robyn from Maplewood Animal Hospital in Bellingham. He was brought from the Tri-cities shelter just before being euthanized. He will be up for adoption soon.
Roxie is now 9 months old. At about 7 months, she had a litter of 13 puppies. When her babies were about 2 weeks old, she developed mastitis and the puppies were bottle fed. Her family has 3 children and they do not want her to have any more puppies!
Daisy (not a Pit Bull) is 6 months old. Her owner's cousin’s husband got her for their 4 kids. They couldn’t keep her and she was given to her current loving family. In addition to the dogs, kitties came to the Spay Station from the Humane Society of Skagit Valley and SPOT (Saving Pets One at a Time) in Burlington http://savingpetsoneatatime.org ############################################ Don’t forget the $10/month Club for continuing support of WeSNIP.
