Lynden Tribune Windmill Pic
The city of Lynden was named for the poem, "Hohenlinden” by T. Campbell, stating, "On Linden, when the sun was low, all bloodless lay the untrodden snow; And dark as winter was the flow of Iser rolling rapidly." Today, Lynden pays homage to its Dutch heritage through locations such as Front Street, which has been made-over with a Dutch theme, complete with its own windmill. Along that street, you'll find a Dutch bakery, Dutch restaurants and numerous antiques stores. Local supermarkets contain Dutch food sections, and Dutch is still spoken by some of the town's residents.

Starra and Cindy arrived early to start registration at the Lynden Safeway parking lot.

Winston, the year and a half, Boxer waited in his car with his Mom.  She bought him at a Fund Raiser auction.  He looked very serious even when his tail was wagging furiously.

This little kitty is named Miracle.  She was found hanging on her Mom’s screen door the first week of December in the middle of a heavy wind storm.  She was starved, frightened, and weighed only 2 lbs. She has continually gained weight and now weighs in at 6 lbs.

Kitty Cash moved to Washington from San Diego.  She was given to her Mom from her daughter’s friend.  She lives with a dog, cow, and goat.  Her mom saw the information from the Bellingham Herald.

LITTLE BOYS AND THEIR PUPPIES

Adam gave a big, toothy smile beside his puppy, Cheyanne.  She came from a Craig’s List ad in Enumclaw .  She is a 4 month-old lab/retriever mix.  Her family saw information about the Spay Station on the local Craig’s List website.  Carter smiled beside his dog, Canine.  His Mom saw a flyer for the Spay Station at Sterling Bank.

Canine is a year-old Lab/Chow who won everybody’s heart with his winning grin.  His other boy, Jordan, had breakfast while waiting in his jammies.

Gracie, the 3 year-old Jack Russell Terrier, waited with her Mom.  Gracie’s family also has her dog Mom.  Her Mom works in Fairhaven and saw the Spay Station at the Pavillion parking lot in Fairhaven.  She made friends with Chrystal in line to board.

Gypsy and Gizelle are year-old sisters.  Their Mom got them from a farm when they were 9 weeks old.  She got information about the Spay Station from WHS.

Flower, the 2 year-old calico girl belonged to her Mom’s daughter.  The daughter had to move away so she stayed with her Mom, who saw a flyer for the Spay Station at the Post Office in Deming.  Jen arrived, ready to start the day.

Bessie and Kat arrived with the Station.

At boarding time, Kat made friends with Canine.  She danced around.......

Kristine, manager from the newly re-opened Taco Time, visited with Cindy and brought dessert coupons for the Spay Station staff.  She took a flyer to post so their clients could get the information about the Spay Station, location, and dates.

Thanks go to Cindy, Starra, and Chrystal for their early morning work.  Thanks also to Safeway for hosting again.
