Q. How do I know if I qualify for your program?

Q. My pet is in heat or may be pregnant. Can she still have surgery?
A. Yes.

Q. My cat has a litter of kittens that are still nursing. Can she have surgery?
A. Cats with a litter can have surgery once the kittens reach 8 weeks of age. Don’t forget, we have a kitten special! Bring in your mama cat to be spayed and we’ll spay/neuter the kittens at no charge! Kittens must be 3 months old or 3 lbs for surgery. Certain conditions apply.

Q. Do you schedule appointments?
A. Yes.

Q. When do I need to come?
A. Paperwork check-in starts at 8:15 a.m. Pets are admitted by the staff starting about 8:30 a.m. You may be there as late as 9:00 a.m. Paperwork check-in takes place outside so dress appropriately.

Q. It’s recommended I arrive early. Just how early do I need to arrive?
A. Check-in is at 6:45 a.m.  Pets are admitted at 7:30 a.m.  As soon as your pet is admitted and you know the day's pickup time (usually 4:30) you are free to go.

Q. Do you keep my pet overnight?
A. No. All pets must be picked up the day of surgery. Before leaving you will be given a slip of paper with the day's exact pick-up time. The pick-up time will be the same for everyone for that day and you (or a person you send) must be there at that time to avoid being charged a late fee.

Q. My pet just needs vaccinations or micro-chipping? Can I have those services done at the Spay Station even though my pet isn't having surgery?
A. No. All "additional services" listed on our fee schedule are only available for pets having surgery.

Q. How much do services cost?
A. Please see our fee schedule.

Q. I don't live in Whatcom or Skagit County. Can I still come?
A. At this time surgery is restricted to owners who live in Whatcom or Skagit county.

Q. I have a giant breed adult dog. Can I bring it?
A. We can often make special arrangements. Please call ahead.

Q. How many animals can I bring?
A. The usual household maximum is 2 dogs per day, 1 dog and 1 cat, or 3 cats. We can sometimes schedule more per household or arrange to have additional pets come on Stand-by.  There is currently no maximum as to the total number of animals that can come per household over time.

Q. Is there an age limit or other requirements for surgery?
A. The doctor has full discretion as far as the acceptability of any particular pet for surgery. Please read more about this under Bringing a Dog or Bringing a Cat.
